A fire broke out at a restaurant on the second floor of a five-story commercial building in Hogye-dong, Dongan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, at around 2 a.m. today (August 22).
No injuries were reported, but 40 people inside the building had to evacuate in a hurry.
Upon receiving the report, fire authorities mobilized 46 firefighters and 17 pieces of equipment, including pumper trucks, to battle the blaze.
Authorities brought the major flames under control 16 minutes after the fire broke out at 2:16 a.m., and completely extinguished the fire at around 2:40 a.m.
The building where the fire occurred has a total floor area of approximately 5,700 square meters. The first to third floors house neighborhood living facilities, while the fourth and fifth floors house a study café, a PC room, and a gosiwon (budget studio rooms), according to authorities.
Police and fire authorities believe the fire started inside the second-floor restaurant and are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
