Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced in a statement on X, local time on the 21st, that Turkey requested an International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Red Notice on July 14 for two individuals: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and an Israeli official identified as Apek Moskovich.
This follows a Turkish court's issuance of an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu last month on charges of genocide.
Prime Minister Netanyahu faces criminal allegations related to the Israeli military's seizure in May of a vessel carrying activists from the Global Freedom Flotilla (GSF) who were attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
A video showing the detained activists kneeling with their hands bound behind their backs was released by far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, drawing widespread international condemnation.
All of the approximately 430 detained activists were deported, with two South Korean nationals released earlier and returned home separately.
Tensions between Israel and Turkey have been heightened following an Israeli airstrike on a Syrian air base on the 18th.
