The film 'HOPE' has surpassed 4.5 million moviegoers nationwide.
According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for cinema tickets on the 21st, 'HOPE' drew 3,820 people nationwide on the 20th, ranking 7th at the box office. Its cumulative audience reached 4,500,029. This marks the milestone of 4.5 million in 38 days since its release.
Released on July 15, 'HOPE' surpassed 1 million viewers on its 3rd day, 2 million on its 5th day, 3 million on its 11th day, and 4 million on its 19th day. While it showed strong momentum in its first week, its box office growth sharply slowed down entering its second week. Furthermore, the sequential releases of 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'The Odyssey' put the brakes on its path to breaking even (approximately 5 million viewers).
Entering its sixth week of release, the daily audience for 'HOPE' has fallen below 10,000, and it is maintaining only around 200 screens nationwide, effectively entering the final stages of its theatrical run.
As it wraps up its domestic screenings, 'HOPE' is scheduled to continue its overseas run starting with releases in Taiwan on September 4 and North America on September 9, followed by Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Latin America, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, and more.
