On the first day of the second major tournament in domestic women's professional golf, "super rookie" Kim Min-sol got off to a smooth start toward consecutive major victories and her fourth win of the season, fueled by a fantastic shot eagle.
Kim was stuck at even par through the first nine holes, but turned the momentum around by sinking a 10.8-meter birdie putt on the third hole of the back nine.
She kept up the momentum by grabbing another birdie with a mid-range putt on the very next hole, but the highlight was the par-4 8th hole.
From 113 meters out, her second shot turned into a fantastic shot eagle, shaving two strokes off her score in a single flash.
Sitting in a tie for second place, just one stroke behind the leader, Kim has made a powerful start in pursuit of becoming the first rookie to achieve four wins in a single season and secure back-to-back major titles.
