A serving police officer accused of stealing someone else's AirPods at a gym has received a heavy disciplinary penalty.
The crime was reportedly uncovered after the victim's smartphone and the AirPods automatically connected to each other.
According to the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency, Inspector A of the Jeonbuk Wanju Police Station was recently sentenced to a one-month suspension at a disciplinary committee meeting.
Inspector A was sent to the prosecution for allegedly stealing another person's AirPods last month at the gym of the apartment complex where he resides.
The crime came to light through an unexpected turn of events.
While passing through the apartment complex, the victim noticed that their smartphone automatically connected to the nearby AirPods and reported the incident to the police.
During the police investigation, Inspector A reportedly stated that he thought they were his own lost AirPods.
