National team defensive midfielder Park Yong-woo (32) is returning to K League 1 club Ulsan HD after three years.
Ulsan announced today (August 19) that they have re-signed Park.
Park, who left Ulsan for Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates in the summer of 2023, is returning to Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium after three years.
For Ulsan, which is currently in second place in K League 1 and challenging for a comeback title, the addition of the veteran Park Yong-woo, who brings rich championship experience, comes as a welcome boost.
Park has won titles in K League 1 (2022 and 2023), K League 2 (2021, while with Gimcheon Sangmu), and the FA Cup (now the Korea Cup, 2017).
In particular, he played a central role in Ulsan's return to the K League throne in 2022 for the first time in 17 years.
At Al Ain, he also reached the summit of Asia.
He spearheaded the team's victory in the 2022-2023 AFC Champions League (ACL).
Park has played for the national team at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers.
The fact that Park is a versatile resource who can also play as a central defender is expected to be a significant help to Ulsan ahead of their tight schedule in the latter half of the season.
Park said, "I have mixed emotions about wearing the Ulsan uniform again. Even while playing elsewhere, I always cheered for and missed my former club," adding, "Based on the experience I gained on the Asian stage, I will do my best to help Ulsan climb even higher."
