Ivy has made her debut on the Broadway stage in the musical "Chicago," with comedian Jo Hye-ryun visiting the venue in person to show her support and leave a heartwarming impression.
On the 18th (local time), Ivy took the stage as Roxie Hart at the Ambassador Theatre in New York for Broadway's "Chicago." Following the performance, she was captured receiving celebration during the curtain call, sharing high-fives with fellow cast members and receiving a bouquet of flowers.
Comedian Jo Hye-ryun personally visited the theater on this day to celebrate Ivy. Jo posted on her social media, "She proudly stood on Broadway in New York, Roxie Hart Ivy. Throughout the first show, my eyes were only on her. How could she be so pretty and pull it off so smoothly, and I was so amazed by how wonderful and beautiful her English pronunciation was. It made me think I should study English too. I hope she successfully finishes her three weeks of Broadway performances."
On the same day, the official account for "Chicago" also celebrated Ivy's debut. The official account posted curtain call photos along with the message, "From Seoul to New York, welcome to the Broadway cell block," adding, "We can still hear the cheers."
In response, Ivy left an English comment saying, "It is truly an honor to be part of Chicago's incredible history. I hope this moment serves as a stepping stone to open doors wide for many more Asian performers in the future. Love Chicago, thank you so much."
Singer G.NA also sent support through a comment, writing, "Bravo unnie. You are truly an inspiration and a mega superstar."
Ivy will take the stage as the lead role of Roxie Hart in Broadway's "Chicago" at the Ambassador Theatre for three weeks until September 6.
This marks the first instance of a Korean actor taking on the lead role of Roxie Hart in Broadway's "Chicago." Ivy has established herself as a representative Roxie Hart by performing the same role 592 times in the Korean licensed production since 2012.
