People Power Party Leader Jang Dong-hyeok: "Impeach the Chief Justice? The Public Will Impeach the Administration"

People Power Party Leader Jang Dong-hyeok asserted that if the ruling bloc attempts to impeach Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae, the public will impeach the administration.

Leader Jang wrote on his social media today, "The Blue House and the Democratic Party are having a fit as Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae nominates a Supreme Court Justice."

He added, "They claim it is 'passing over the president' because there was no prior coordination with the presidential office, and they are even mentioning rejecting the confirmation motion as grounds for impeaching the Chief Justice."

Leader Jang pointed out, "The Chief Justice's right to nominate Supreme Court Justices is a core authority for the independence of the judiciary. If there were prior communication and coordination with anyone, that itself would go against the constitutional intent that the Chief Justice holds this exclusive authority to ensure judicial independence."

He further emphasized, "The independence of the judiciary must be protected by the judiciary itself."

Leader Jang warned, "Impeach the Chief Justice? Try it once. The public will surely impeach this administration."
