On his first full day after being elected, newly appointed Democratic Party leader Kim Min-seok chose a meeting with Cheong Wa Dae Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik as his very first official schedule today.
During the meeting, Chief of Staff Kang delivered a congratulatory orchid sent by President Lee Jae-myung.
Leader Kim noted that he was meeting again with presidential aides with whom he had discussed state affairs during his time as prime minister, emphasizing close communication between the party and the presidential office.

Leader Kim stated that while the party will back the government's administration of state affairs, it will also convey voices heard from livelihood sites to the government and the presidential office.
Mentioning his visit yesterday, right after the party convention, to Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, which suffered heavy rain damage, he said the party and government will work together to support the affected residents.
Cheong Wa Dae Chief of Staff Kang also responded by emphasizing party-government unity.
[Kang Hoon-sik / Cheong Wa Dae Chief of Staff: The role of the party and the government running as one team is extremely important. The government will also listen more closely to the party's voice and more faithfully reflect public sentiment from the field into state affairs.]
After finishing their public remarks, Leader Kim and Chief of Staff Kang embraced in front of reporters.
The Democratic Party and the government plan to hold the first high-level party-government consultative meeting on the morning of the 23rd, following Leader Kim's inauguration.
Specific agenda items have not yet been finalized, but the meeting is expected to serve as an introductory gathering between the new leadership, the government, and Cheong Wa Dae.
Regarding the possibility of Leader Kim paying courtesy calls to the leadership of opposition parties such as the People Power Party and the New Reform Party, Democratic Party Senior Spokesperson Park Sung-joon left the possibility open, stating, "Would he not pursue expansive and additive politics?"
