Actor So Jisub recently opened up about the success of "Agent Kim Reactivated," along with the weight and responsibility he feels entering his 30th year since debut.
On August 18, global media platform BoldPage released a pictorial and interview titled "Global Q's," which was conducted directly by overseas global editors with So Jisub.
Speaking about the widely loved SBS drama "Agent Kim Reactivated," So Jisub shared with a smile, "There are many generations who haven't seen 'I'm Sorry, I Love You,' but because so many different generations watched 'Agent Kim Reactivated' this time, these days people call me by the name 'Agent Kim' the most rather than my own name." Regarding why he chose the project, he explained, "Rather than the action itself, I liked the narrative behind Agent Kim and the environment he lived in."
He also talked about his hit project "I'm Sorry, I Love You," which is still loved overseas and famously referred to as a source of "K-trauma." He remarked, "It's fascinating how people can feel the same emotions together, even when languages are different." He added a witty warning for those who haven't watched it yet, saying, "Since it's a sad ending, you could be in big trouble if you carelessly click on it without thinking. It might leave you feeling sad for a while."
So Jisub also shared his thoughts on the plans for a potential second season of "Agent Kim Reactivated" that many fans are anticipating. He raised expectations by stating, "Instead of an episodic format, I hope there is one overarching main storyline. I am not sure how we will prepare for it. Depending on that, Agent Kim's role will also change a little bit. Then I think we will be able to show various things within that. We will probably move as a team? First of all, the worldview is just too big."
Entering his 30th year in his acting career, So Jisub confessed that his burden when approaching projects has actually increased. He said, "I don't seem to let things go very easily in certain aspects. Because if a single project goes wrong, it can cause harm to so many people, so I always have to be careful and pay close attention."
He went on to share his honest thoughts on living life as a star. When asked what it is like to spend a lifetime as a public figure known to the masses, So Jisub expressed his deep concerns, saying, "It is something to be grateful for. But the good parts are 51%? And the things that aren't are 49%. I think it's definitely not an easy life. That weight and difficulty seem to get heavier as time goes on. Now, it doesn't just end within Korea; many people overseas also show love and react to it. Especially as lead actors, I think there is a clear sense of responsibility that comes with that."
