A teenage daughter who poured boiling water on her mother after she tried to stop her from running away is being investigated by the police in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.
The Namyangju Nambu Police Station arrested the teenager, surnamed A, at the scene on the 15th on charges of special assault against an ascendant.
A is accused of pouring boiling water on the head and legs of her 52-year-old mother, B, at their home at 12:50 AM that day, causing injuries.
B suffered second-degree burns and received treatment at a hospital.
According to the police investigation, A attempted to leave home to stay with an older female acquaintance. When her mother stopped her and took away her smartphone, A boiled water in an electric kettle and poured it on her.
A was apprehended by police officers who were dispatched following a report from a resident while she was outside the house with her mother.
The police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the crime and consider applying for temporary measures to separate A from her mother.
