U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that it "must raise the white flag of surrender."
In an interview with Fox News on the 17th (local time), President Trump re-emphasized that preventing Iran from possessing nuclear weapons is the top priority of the United States, saying, "I have no timetable, I'm not in a rush."
Earlier on his social media, he stated, "The number one goal was, is, and will remain making sure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons in any way, shape, or form." This is interpreted as a reiteration that he will not negotiate under time pressure and will not back down from the goal of denuclearization.
During the interview, President Trump also said, "They are great poker players, but they are dying."
This is interpreted to mean that while Iran is skilled at hiding its true intentions in negotiations, it is actually facing immense pressure from the conflict.
Regarding observations that Iran is employing a "stalling strategy" ahead of the U.S. midterm elections in November to increase his political burden, he emphasized, "The midterms have nothing to do with my thinking."
Addressing concerns over ammunition shortages due to a prolonged conflict, President Trump rebutted, "What we've used so far is peanuts," adding, "We have a lot of mid-level weapons."
When asked about Oman's role in the negotiation process with Iran, Fox News reported that President Trump issued a warning laced with profanity, stating, "If Oman interferes, I will bomb them mercilessly."
Oman is a coastal nation facing Iran across the Strait of Hormuz.
Recently, Oman has been holding separate consultations with Iran regarding navigation and management measures in the Strait of Hormuz.
In connection with this, complaints are reportedly emerging within the U.S. government that Oman's actions are not helpful to the United States.
