The seminar related to the May 18 Democratic Uprising was hosted by People Power Party Representative Lee Jin-sook and others at the National Assembly Library on the 13th.
During the seminar, claims that distorted and disparaged the May 18 spirit, such as denying responsibility on the part of former President Chun Doo-hwan, poured out.

Some 3,000 governing party members visited the party headquarters in Yeouido today (the 17th) and filed an ethics complaint against Representative Lee Jin-sook, urging the party to "impose the highest level of disciplinary action, including expulsion or a recommendation to leave the party."
[Choi Jun-young / People Power Party Registered Party Member: If heavy disciplinary action is not taken against Representative Lee Jin-sook, who fomented public division, the People Power Party should take down its sign as a 'democratic party' right away today.]
The complaint also included criticisms stating, "Despite Floor Leader Jung Jum-sik requesting the cancellation of the event, Representative Lee defied the party's will," and "This directly contradicts the party platform recognizing the historical legitimacy of the May 18 Democratic Uprising, walking straight into a frame that brands the entire party as a force that disparages May 18."
The leadership of the People Power Party stated that because the seminar was not an event at the party level, it is difficult to specifically comment on the leadership's stance, while adding the following:
[Park Sung-hoon / People Power Party Senior Spokesperson: It was an academic event, and we are not reviewing disciplinary action at this time.]
The People Power Party Ethics Committee is scheduled to hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss whether to discipline four party lawmakers, drawing keen attention to whether Representative Lee Jin-sook will be included as a subject of discussion.
