▲ Britain's Amy Hunt, who claimed four titles
British sprinting star Amy Hunt has become the first athlete in history to win four gold medals at a single European Athletics Championships.
Competing on the 16th (local time) as the final anchor leg for the British national team in the mixed 400m relay final at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, UK, Hunt clinched victory with a European record time of 39.97 seconds.
Following her victories in the women's 100m, women's 200m, and women's 400m relay, this marked her fourth gold medal of the competition.
This is the first time in the history of the European Athletics Championships, which began in 1934, that an athlete has won four titles at a single event.
British national team member Dina Asher-Smith, who teamed up with Hunt to win the gold medal that day, captured her 11th career medal at the European Athletics Championships, breaking the previous record for the most medals won, which was held by Irena Szewinska of Poland.
The mixed 400m event features two male and two female runners competing together, and this marks the first time it has been held at the European Championships.
Germany (40.11 seconds) won the silver medal, and Spain (40.42 seconds) took the bronze.
