The death toll from Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has surpassed 2,300, Reuters reported.
This figure exceeds the number of deaths recorded during the 2018–2020 Ebola outbreak, making it the deadliest Ebola crisis in the history of the DRC.
According to the DRC's National Institute for Biomedical Research, cumulative confirmed Ebola cases have risen to 4,945.
Among them, 101 cases were newly confirmed in the past 24 hours.
Since an Ebola outbreak was officially declared in the DRC on May 15, the virus has continued to spread at a rapid pace.
Ebola virus disease is an infectious disease that causes febrile infection, accompanied by symptoms such as high fever, diarrhea, and vomiting.
Its fatality rate varies by virus strain, and unlike COVID-19, it is not known to be transmitted through the air.
