Son Heung-min of Major League Soccer side LAFC has seen his consecutive-scoring streak come to an end after four matches.
Starting in a home match against San Diego FC for the 2026 MLS season at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on August 16 (local time), Son played the full 90 minutes without recording an offensive point.
LAFC lost 1-0 after conceding a penalty kick in the 44th minute of the second half.
Son's four-match MLS scoring streak, which continued following the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, has been halted.
In official matches, he has now gone four consecutive games without a goal.
After scoring his last MLS goal against the Vancouver Whitecaps, Son failed to find the back of the net in three Leagues Cup matches before stepping onto the pitch for this regular-league fixture against San Diego.
This season, Son has scored 6 goals in official competitions, including 4 in the regular league and 2 in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
With their five-match unbeaten run in the league (4 wins, 1 draw) snapped, LAFC remained in 3rd place with 35 points (10 wins, 5 draws, 5 defeats).

In the 5th minute of the first half, his left-footed shot after breaking into the left side of the penalty area hit the side netting.
In the 9th minute of the second half, his left-footed shot from a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper missed wide to the right of the goal, and his shot from the right side of the penalty area in the 26th minute of the second half was blocked by a defender.
In stoppage time of the second half, Son collided with San Diego forward Anders Dreyer, who came in with a rough tackle, and received a yellow card from the referee.
San Diego secured the victory thanks to Dreyer's penalty kick goal in the 44th minute of the second half.
Earlier, during a San Diego corner kick, LAFC defender Ryan Porteous committed a handball foul, conceding the penalty kick.
Dreyer, who received a yellow card for taking off his shirt to celebrate after scoring the goal, was later sent off after picking up his second yellow card from the collision with Son.
