A fire that broke out at a resource recovery facility in Eunhyeon-myeon, Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, around 5:00 AM today (August 15) was fully extinguished after 11 hours and 20 minutes.
While there were no casualties, three buildings, machinery, and 100 tons of waste were burned.
The fire authorities issued a Level 1 response immediately after the fire broke out and mobilized 50 pieces of equipment and 121 personnel, but faced difficulties in extinguishing the fire due to the large amount of waste inside the facility.
Fire authorities brought the major flames under control around 10:50 AM today, 5 hours and 40 minutes after the fire started, and continued to extinguish remaining sparks.
Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the scale of the damage.
