U.S. State Department Issues Liberation Day Message: 'South Korea Is an Indispensable Partner'

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated yesterday (local time, the 14th) regarding South Korea-U.S. relations, "We remain proud to stand with South Korea as an indispensable partner as we continue to work together to expand prosperity and support the extraordinary people-to-people ties that bind our nations."

In a press statement issued that day to congratulate National Liberation Day, Secretary Rubio said, "On behalf of the United States Government, I extend my warmest congratulations to the people of the Republic of Korea as they celebrate their national day."

Secretary Rubio noted, "For over 70 years, the United States and South Korea have forged an alliance rooted in shared values, mutual trust, and an unwavering commitment to each other's security and prosperity."

He added, "Building on the President's historic state visit to South Korea last fall, our countries have deepened cooperation across a wide range of issues—including economic security, critical minerals, and shipbuilding—ushering in a historic new era in our bilateral relationship."
