Singer MC Mong, who became embroiled in controversy surrounding One Hundred Label Chairwoman Cha Ga-won, is meeting fans by holding his solo concert "Midsummer Night's Ice-Ggeakki" on the 14th and 16th at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. This marks his first solo stage in about four years since 2022.
The day before, MC Mong shared his anticipation during a TikTok live broadcast, saying, "We are finally meeting. I will show you firsthand how fun it will be." Previously, announcing the concert, he stated, "To avoid hiding among baseless rumors and misunderstandings, a singer proves themselves on stage. I want to meet you through music. If you want to see me, come. I will show you how to beat the intense heat. Show me your bold spirit."
In particular, flashing a stack of 5 million won in cash in front of the camera, he added, "I plan to instantly hand out a 5 million won prize to the audience member who presents the craziest dress code, makeup, and costume ideas."
This concert is drawing attention as it takes place amid various suspicions surrounding MC Mong. Cha Ga-won, chairwoman of One Hundred Label and his former business partner, was arrested on the 3rd on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (Fraud). The Seoul Central District Court issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns over the destruction of evidence.
Previously, MBC's investigative journalism program "PD Note" drew interest by raising suspicions that MC Mong had gambled at an overseas casino with Chairwoman Cha and that company funds were used for those funds. In response, MC Mong publicly denied this, stating, "Does it make any sense that company funds were used?" and has announced plans to file a damages lawsuit worth over 100 billion won against MBC.
MC Mong will continue the same concert tour at the Busan KBS Hall on the 29th. On the other hand, previously announced schedules for Changwon (September 19) and Daegu (October 24) have been canceled. Explaining the reason for the cancellation through his live broadcast, MC Mong said, "We are only going up to the Busan concert. I feel uneasy because it feels like it was pushed through impulsively," and added, "After doing the show up to Busan, I will hold an encore concert in Seoul at the end of the year. I am sorry."
