Prosecutors have demanded a two-year prison sentence for comedian Lee Jin-ho, who is standing trial on charges of habitual gambling and drunk driving.
During the trial held today before Judge Ahn Tae-yoon of the Suwon District Court Yeoju Branch's Criminal Division 1, prosecutors stated, "The defendant remitted a total of approximately 870 million won across 664 transactions to gambling sites between May 11, 2023, and October 14, 2024, exchanging them for cyber money to engage in habitual gambling."
They added, "On September 24, 2025, he drove for about 70 kilometers with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.12%."
The attorney for Lee Jin-ho appealed to the court for leniency, stating, "The defendant is deeply reflecting on his actions and admits to the charges. He has no prior criminal record and vows never to commit a crime again."
Lee Jin-ho also stated, "I have lived every day in regret since making my mistake, and I will not do wrong again."
Lee was indicted without detention on May 29 on charges including habitual gambling and violations of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Previously, police launched an investigation after receiving a complaint through Shinmungo urging an investigation into Lee for gambling and fraud, and subsequently forwarded the case to prosecutors.
The sentencing hearing will be held at 9:40 AM on September 1.
