Kim Min-hee, who gave birth to a child with director Hong Sang-soo, has made her first public appearance in about a year.
The two attended the Locarno Film Festival currently being held in Switzerland, as their film "Where to Look", in which they worked together as director and actor, was invited to the international competition section.
Attending a press conference for the new film, Kim attached significance to the project as her first film since giving birth, stating, "My past focus of immersing myself entirely in films is gone, and now I prepare for film shoots after finishing preparations for my child," mentioning the changes before and after childbirth.
She also revealed that she brings her child to the set, sharing aspects of her daily routine by saying, "I breastfeed and make baby food on set."
There was also a mention of director Hong Sang-soo.
Kim said, "I have never said this before, but working with director Hong Sang-soo is a huge joy and honor," adding, "I think it is a true blessing to be able to act out original and beautiful thoughts through my mouth that I never could have thought of myself."
The two first met as director and actor in the 2015 film "Right Now, Wrong Then", but became embroiled in an affair controversy after announcing at a 2016 press conference that they were "in a relationship loving each other."
Director Hong is a married man who wed in 1985 and has a daughter. He filed for divorce against his wife in 2016, but the court dismissed it in 2019, and Hong did not appeal.
Kim Min-hee has maintained a common-law relationship with director Hong and gave birth to a son last year.
Since revealing her relationship with director Hong, Kim has exclusively appeared in his films.
