The Cheongju Heungdeok Police Station announced today (August 14) that it has apprehended and is currently investigating a 16-year-old male, identified as A, on charges including assault against an ascendant for allegedly beating and confining his mother following an argument over money.
A is suspected of assaulting his mother, B, multiple times at their home in Cheongju at around 10:30 PM the previous day.
He is also accused of hurling verbal abuse and preventing B from coming out after she fled into a room to avoid him.
Police dispatched to the scene following B's report arrested A on the spot.
According to the investigation, A committed the crime because B refused to give him money.
It was also found that A had previously been reported for assaulting an ascendant.
Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
