Poll results released today (the 24th) showed that President Lee Jae-myung's state-affairs approval rating fell by 7 percentage points from the previous survey, hitting a record low since his inauguration.
According to a survey conducted by Gallup Korea from the 11th to the 13th among 1,000 adults aged 18 and older nationwide, positive evaluations of President Lee's job performance stood at 44%.
President Lee's approval rating fell by 7 percentage points compared to the survey for the fourth week of July released on July 24th (51%).
Responses stating he is "doing a poor job" came in at 46%, numerically surpassing positive evaluations for the first time since President Lee took office.
Responses withholding opinion stood at 10%.
The most frequently cited reason for positive evaluations was "diplomacy" (19%).
This was followed by "economy and livelihood" (15%), "doing well overall" (8%), and "communication" (7%).
The reasons for negative evaluations were led by "real estate policy" (30%), followed by "economy, livelihood, and high exchange rates" (13%), "doing poorly overall" (7%), and "reduction of prosecutors' authority" and "dictatorship/autocracy" (5% each).
In party support ratings, the Democratic Party recorded 41% and the People Power Party 25%.
Compared to the survey for the fourth week of July, the Democratic Party fell by 3 percentage points, while the People Power Party rose by 2 percentage points.
The Reform Party recorded 3%, the Rebuilding Korea Party 2%, the Progressive Party 1%, and the proportion of respondents with no affiliation stood at 28%.
This survey was conducted through telephone interviews using randomly sampled wireless virtual numbers.
The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, the contact rate is 46.9%, and the response rate is 9.7%.
