Truck Fire Breaks Out on Sangju-Yeongcheon Expressway in Gumi; No Casualties Reported

At around 1:30 AM today (August 14), a fire broke out on a 25-ton cargo truck loaded with steel materials on the Sangju-Yeongcheon Expressway bound for Sangju, near the Dogae Interchange in Dogae-myeon, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province.

The driver, a man in his 70s, evacuated the vehicle, resulting in no casualties.

Firefighters dispatched to the scene after receiving a report brought the major flames under control in one hour and 20 minutes and are currently dousing remaining sparks.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on the driver's statement that "a fire started from the wheel on the driver's side while driving."
