Six months after the January 29 measures, the government has unveiled additional housing supply measures. A total of 100,000 new units will be supplied, including some 27,000 units in Gangseo, Seoul, as well as Namyangju and Gwangju in Gyeonggi Province. In particular, the focus was placed on the speed of supply.

The new public housing district volume in the Seoul metropolitan area released by the government today (the 13th) amounts to about 27,000 units, including 21,700 units in Wabu-eup, Namyangju; 4,500 units in Gwangju Station Area, Gyeonggi Province; and 1,000 units in Yeomchang Park, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
The largest site in Namyangju is a greenbelt area adjacent to Dosim Station on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, with the goal of commencing construction in the first half of 2030.
Seoul's Gangnam-area greenbelts and the Yongsan Park, which were recently mentioned as candidates, were not included in this announcement.
The government plans to additionally announce candidate sites totaling 73,000 units within this year.

Before announcing additional candidate sites, the government temporarily designated greenbelt areas in Seoul and the capital area adjacent to Seoul as land transaction permit zones, and greenbelts are highly likely to be included in the additional candidate sites as well.

The government's plan is to add new housing site volumes along with the early commencement of existing public housing sites and expanded urban and private supply volumes to additionally supply more than 230,000 units in the metropolitan area.
What was emphasized just as much as the supply volume in this measure is "speed."
For the 3rd-phase new towns, an average of 68 months elapsed from announcement to housing construction, but the government plans to simultaneously pursue permits, compensation, and site development to cut the period down to 37 months.
It also announced that it will advance the construction start dates of existing public housing sites by 1 to 2 years to early-commence 89,000 units by 2030.
The government plans to hold inspection meetings chaired by the Prime Minister to manage project progress on a weekly basis to support this speed-driven campaign.
