Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has dismissed US President Donald Trump's claim that the United States has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz as "fake information."
Writing on social media platform X on the 13th local time, Araghchi stated, "The US has long made repeated miscalculations due to intelligence failures, with the war against Iran being a prime example."
He went on to say, "Now, the US is making an even greater miscalculation in the Strait of Hormuz." Seemingly targeting President Trump's remarks about full control of the strait, he warned, "Worse than fake news is fake information. Beware."
Hossein Taeb, commander of Iran's Basij paramilitary force, also stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran's control and management.
According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, Taeb said, "The US attempted to provoke another war in the Strait of Hormuz to diminish Iran's regional support." He added, "Despite the US claiming that Iran has no air or naval forces, it is facing defeat once again."
He emphasized, "Today, you can see that the Strait of Hormuz is under the management and control of the Islamic Republic. Iran maintains a posture of complete security and continues on its path."
The previous day, President Trump wrote on Truth Social, "The United States has complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. I believe we will maintain this."
President Trump further claimed, "Iran has no navy, no air force. The remaining soldiers are not even being paid, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is shattered and fleeing. Their leadership is uncertain, to put it mildly."
He also asserted, "They have no money. Their country is broken. All they have left is fake news and 300% inflation, and things are getting worse."
