A Jeju-bound passenger plane scheduled to take off from Cheongju International Airport today (August 13) experienced a one-hour flight delay after a passenger requested to cancel their boarding.
At around 11:47 a.m. today, a passenger in their 40s, identified as A, aboard Jin Air flight LJ401 requested to cancel their boarding, saying, "My father is in critical condition due to a chronic illness," and subsequently got off the plane.
Flight LJ401 was originally scheduled to depart at 11:25 a.m., but its departure had already been delayed and was just about to head from the boarding bridge to the runway.
Flight LJ401, carrying 191 passengers excluding passenger A, took off at around 12:25 p.m. after undergoing the necessary procedures.
The flight delay reportedly occurred because, under relevant regulations requiring checks for the possibility of explosives being left behind when a passenger cancels boarding mid-way, police and the National Intelligence Service checked passenger A's identity and searched the area around their seat.
