A man who was arrested on charges of detaining his wife in a bathroom and assaulting her has been hospitalized after self-harming during a meal in custody.
Seoul Guro Police Station announced that around 6:30 a.m. on the 10th, a man in his 60s who was being held at the Geumcheon Police Station detention center inflicted self-harm using an object while eating breakfast.
The suspect, identified as A, was transferred to a hospital for treatment and is reportedly not in life-threatening condition.
Previously, A was arrested on the 7th and was under investigation for locking his wife inside their home in Guro-gu, Seoul, and burning parts of her body with a tool heated on a gas stove.
Police believe that A committed the act of self-harm out of despair over his situation.
