TWICE's Chaeyoung Announces New Start as Solo Singer: "Thank You, JYP Family"

Chaeyoung of the group TWICE is leaving JYP Entertainment to take a new step as a solo artist.

On the 13th, Chaeyoung shared her future plans through a handwritten letter addressed directly to TWICE's fandom, ONCE. She expressed her intention to continue her musical activities within her own worldview, "LIL FANTASY," and stated that she wanted to deliver this news to ONCE first.

Chaeyoung also did not forget to express her gratitude toward JYP Entertainment and the group TWICE. She thanked the agency and the team for supporting and believing in her for 14 years, while also showing deep affection for her fellow members who have been a source of strength by her side.

Furthermore, she made it clear that apart from her solo activities, her activities as a member of TWICE will continue unchangingly. She attributed the reason why she is able to receive so much love today to the time spent promoting as TWICE, conveying a deep affection for the group. She also expressed her wish to become someone who can deliver precious music to fans' lives both as Chaeyoung of TWICE and as Chaeyoung of "LIL FANTASY."

Previously in September of last year, Chaeyoung released her first solo album, "LIL FANTASY vol.1," showcasing her independent worldview and musical color. The album received favorable reviews, ranking 86th on Rolling Stone's "100 Best Albums of 2025."

Chaeyoung concluded her letter with a pledge to become a greater person through new challenges, along with an affectionate greeting to her fans.

Earlier, as TWICE reached its second contract renewal season 11 years after debut, the members have been considering their individual paths.

Following member Jeongyeon's exclusive contract with Baro Entertainment—the agency housing her older sister, actor Gong Seung-yeon—leaving JYP, it has also been raised that Taiwanese member Tzuyu may not renew her contract with JYP and is likely to seek a new agency.
