▲ Democratic Party leadership candidate Chung Chung-rae prepares for a TV debate at the SBS Mok-dong studio in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on the 12th.
Democratic Party leadership candidate Chung Chung-rae stated regarding real estate supply measures that "normalizing the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) is the most urgent priority."
Writing on Facebook today (the 13th), candidate Chung remarked, "The core of real estate policy is supply policy, and the agency that should lead this is LH."
Chung stated, "Out of the 1.4 million housing units pledged overall by the Lee Jae-myung administration, LH must handle 550,000 units," adding, "LH needs to supply 110,000 units per year, but employees are anxious due to debates over splitting the corporation, and a total of 1,200 employees have already left."
He went on to emphasize, "The more serious problem is that there is no land to build houses on, so a supply shortage crisis will become a reality in two to three years, causing massive difficulties," and stressed, "What is most urgent right now is normalizing LH and securing land for housing construction."
Targeting candidate Kim Min-seok, Chung criticized, "Someone who has even served as prime minister fails to grasp a proper understanding of LH," adding, "He brings up irrelevant disagreements between ministries, and it is truly frustrating to wonder what he has actually done for real estate supply over the past year."
He added, "Real estate policy and supply measures are urgent," and vowed, "Once I become party leader, I will consult with the party, government, and presidential office to resolve these issues swiftly."
Along with the post, Chung also shared a YouTube video titled "He puts a lot of sincere effort into sounding clueless."
The video captures a scene from the TV debate held the previous day, where Chung asked Kim how much housing supply LH is expected to handle.
When Kim replied, "The essential solution is to pursue a Housing New Deal, including financial investment for a supply drive," Chung pointed out, "He seems to know very well nothing about real estate policy, which could be the most crucial policy for winning the general election."
Meanwhile, in another Facebook post earlier today, Chung criticized candidate Song Young-gil for referring to him as having a "crucian carp IQ" during a CBS radio interview.
Chung retorted, "Last time, he didn't hesitate to use extreme language like 'traitor, his head should be cut off,' and now even a 'crucian carp IQ'—isn't this going too far?" He then asked, "Did Kim Min-seok tell you to say that, or is this just Song Young-gil's unique personality?"
