Gimcheon Sangmu goalkeeper Baek Jong-beom has been recognized as the goalkeeper who made the most impressive saves in the K League for July.
The Korea Professional Football League announced today (August 12) that Baek has been selected as the winner of the July "Doctor-Made RingTee Save of the Month" award.
The award, given every month to the goalkeeper who makes the most impressive save, determines the winner through a fan vote between two candidates.
For this voting period, which covered Rounds 16 to 20 of the K League 1, Baek Jong-beom and Incheon United's Kim Dong-heon were nominated.
Baek made a diving save in the 16th minute of the second half during the Round 20 match against Daejeon Hana Citizen to block a close-range shot by Joo Min-kyu.
Kim Dong-heon was nominated after blocking a free kick by Kim Young-gwon in added time of the second half during the Round 19 match against Ulsan HD.
Voting was conducted by combining the results from the official K League application "Kick" (80 percent) and the RingTee official mall (20 percent).
In the vote conducted over three days from the 6th to the 8th, reflecting weights, Baek scored 57.2 points (4,191 votes) to edge out Kim Dong-heon, who finished with 42.8 points (3,429 votes).
Baek will receive a prize of 1 million won and a trophy.
The K League is planning to produce a replica trophy bearing Baek's autograph and hold a charity auction.
