A man in his 20s has been caught by police after falling asleep behind the wheel in the middle of a 7-lane road while driving under the influence.
The Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced today (August 12) that it has booked a man in his 20s, identified as A, without detention on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
A is suspected of driving a Jaguar while intoxicated in the area of Michuhol-gu, Incheon, on the afternoon of August 9 at 2:20 PM.
Police investigations revealed that while driving under the influence, A stopped his vehicle right in the middle of a 7-lane road in Juan-dong, Michuhol-gu, and fell asleep.
Police rushed to the scene after receiving a report stating that a driver was slumped over and unconscious inside a vehicle. When A failed to wake up, officers used an expandable baton to break the window and open the car door to rescue him.
The blood alcohol concentration measured at the scene was 0.08% or higher, which is the level for license revocation.
A police official stated, "There were no accidents or casualties resulting from the drunk driving," adding, "We have allowed A to return home for now and plan to investigate the exact circumstances of his drunk driving."
