Pope Leo XIV expressed condolences and solidarity on the 11th (local time) for the victims of the earthquake in Colombia.
According to the Vatican, Pope Leo XIV sent a condolence telegram to the Colombian Bishops' Conference in the name of Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin to comfort the earthquake victims.
In the telegram, the Pope extended his condolences to the bereaved families of those killed in the earthquake and emphasized that he is spiritually with them.
The Vatican stated that he also expressed gratitude to all those participating in relief efforts for the victims.
In Colombia, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.4 struck the day before, leaving at least 164 people dead.
According to the Colombian Geological Service (SGC), this is the largest earthquake to hit Colombia in the 21st century.
