Jung Hoo Lee hit his 9th home run of the season, breaking his personal single-season record in the big leagues.
It was a massive home run that cleared the stadium, but he narrowly missed a "Splash Hit" into the sea by just 30 centimeters.
Back in April, Lee hit his 2nd home run of the season toward McCovey Cove, the body of water just beyond his home ballpark, but it bounced off the walkway instead of landing directly in the water, meaning it was not recognized as his first-ever "Splash Hit."
Today (August 11), in the 5th inning with the game tied 1-1 against Houston, he unleashed a powerful swing against an inside fastball.
Though he worried it might go foul, the ball sailed just inside the foul pole and deep into the outfield stands for an extra-stadium home run.
With his 9th home run of the season, Lee surpassed his previous career-high of 8 set last year, leaving him just one shy of his first career double-digit home run season.
He narrowly missed out on a "Splash Hit" once again, falling short of the required distance by about 30 centimeters.
In the 8th inning, Lee also produced a technical single to left field, returning his batting average to the .300 range.
