The story of police officers who saved a young child from a critical condition by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) inside a moving patrol car has belatedly come to light.

According to the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, at around 4:06 PM on June 21, the guardian of a 14-month-old girl urgently sought help at the Seobu District Division of the Chuncheon Police Station.
At the time, the child was in a critical condition, having fainted with a high fever soaring up to 39.4°C (103°F) and foaming at the mouth.
When the guardian said, "The child might have choked on a snack," the police officers immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver, but the child's breathing did not return.
Determining that there was no time to wait for a joint response from 119 emergency services, the police decided to transport the child to a hospital in a patrol car to secure the golden hour.
While boarding the patrol car, the officers contacted 119 to receive medical guidance while searching for a hospital capable of inpatient treatment.
At the same time, Inspector Lim Dong-yeon performed CPR on the child for about six minutes in the backseat of the moving patrol car.
Given the tense situation, Senior Constable Kim Young-guk of the 2nd Riot Police Unit also swiftly drove the patrol car to the hospital using shortcuts.

Thanks to the efforts of the two, the child's breathing gradually returned, and they arrived at the hospital emergency room just in time to hand the child over to medical staff.
It was reported that the child received inpatient treatment for three days before recovering and being discharged.
As this incident became known, Senior Constable Kim received a commendation from the Commissioner General of the Korean National Police Agency.
Inspector Lim said, "If citizens ever need police help, we will assist them regardless of the reason, anytime."
