Ulsan Ulju Police Station announced yesterday (August 10) that it is stepping up promotional efforts to eradicate drunk driving by using an AI-generated drunk driving prevention video titled "Ggeolmusae."
"Ggeolmusae" is a neologism referring to someone who constantly repeats regrets about past actions, akin to a parrot, using phrases ending in expressions like "should have done..." or "should not have done..."
In the video produced by Ulju Police Station, the scene of a drunk driver belatedly regretting their actions—saying "I should have taken a taxi" or "I should have left my car behind" only after causing an accident—is depicted through a satirical parrot beating its chest in despair.
The police are broadcasting this video approximately 500 times a day across 32 locations, including the official Instagram account of the Ulsan Provincial Police Agency, large electronic billboards, banks, corporate offices, village community centers, and kiosks at town and township administrative welfare centers.
In addition, the police plan to utilize the video in traffic safety education sessions for the elderly while discovering additional accessible channels for citizens to continue the promotional campaign through the end of this year.
Kim Tae-woo, head of Ulju Police Station, stated, "We will continue to leverage new technologies and promotional methods to foster an atmosphere that roots out drunk driving and establish a safe traffic culture."
