▲ Rescue of a Drifting Person in Boryeong Waters
A teenager who was drifting in the waters off Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province, has been rescued.
According to the Boryeong Coast Guard, a teenage male, identified as A, was rescued by a 3-ton fishing boat operating near Jigeondo Island in Ungcheon-eup at around 7:20 p.m. yesterday (August 10).
The captain of the fishing boat reported the incident to the Coast Guard and safely transferred the teenager.
At the time of the rescue, teenager A was wearing a life jacket, and reports indicated that he was in good health with no injuries.
The Coast Guard believes that teenager A began drifting while engaging in haerujil (coastal tidal flat foraging) and is currently investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
The Coast Guard plans to present a letter of appreciation to the fishing boat captain who rescued the teenager.
