Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on the 10th (local time) that toll issues regarding the new shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz are not being discussed at the current stage of negotiations with Oman.
However, he made it clear that appropriate compensation should be received when establishing safe routes and providing related services.
Speaking at a press briefing that day, Baghaei said, "We are not discussing such details at this stage, and consultations are still ongoing."
He added, "We have previously stated that an agreement was reached on the navigation plan, and while there are still some technical issues to be discussed regarding a joint statement, the negotiations are proceeding smoothly and constructively."
Baghaei emphasized, "What is clear is that a mechanism will be established to monitor the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz and to cooperate on issues related to the environment, the provision of maritime services, and combating crime."
He also noted, "When maritime services are provided, it is natural to receive corresponding compensation."
Regarding the conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, Baghaei stressed, "The reopening of the strait depends on the resolution of the situations forced upon Iran and the entire region by the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime (Israel)."
