▲ Meeting to Strengthen Cooperative Networks for Responding to Relationship Crimes
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the police have decided to strengthen protection and support for victims of "relationship crimes"—offenses occurring within intimate relationships such as family members or romantic partners, including dating violence, stalking, and digital sex crimes—by linking their information networks.
The Seoul Women & Family Foundation held a meeting on the 5th at the Ministry of Justice Crime Victim One-Stop Solution Center on the third floor of the Seoul Women's Plaza, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, Dongjak Police Station, and Dongjak District Office, to share current institutional responses to relationship crimes and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation for victim protection.
This meeting was held to review the victim support systems currently operated in the field by agencies responding to relationship crimes such as stalking and dating violence, and to enhance inter-agency collaboration.
A total of 32 officials attended the meeting, including Park Jung-sook, CEO of the Seoul Women & Family Foundation; Park Jung-bo, chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency; representatives from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Dongjak District Office; and a monitoring support group composed of retired police officers.
The Seoul Women & Family Foundation provides counseling, case management, risk assessment, and safety support for victims of stalking, dating violence, and digital sex crimes.
It also connects victims to legal, psychological, and medical services depending on their situation. In recognition of its contribution to such victim support and inter-agency cooperation, the foundation received a letter of appreciation from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on this day.
The Seoul Women & Family Foundation and the police plan to bilaterally link the "SAN System," a comprehensive platform for protecting the socially vulnerable, with the Seoul Metropolitan Welfare Information System by the end of September.
Park Jung-sook, CEO of the Seoul Women & Family Foundation, stated, "Based on close cooperation with related agencies including the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, we will continuously strengthen the support system for victims of stalking, dating violence, and digital sex crimes," adding, "We will strive to make Seoul a safe city for citizens by building a public-private cooperative system spanning from prevention to victim support and recovery."
