BLACKPINK's Jisoo Opens Up About Tears Shed After 10th Anniversary: "Please Don't Read Too Much Into It"

BLACKPINK member Jisoo has spoken out about the tears she shed after wrapping up the group's 10th-anniversary events.

Late at night on August 8, Jisoo shared a long message through a fan platform, saying, "Hello! I think this is my first time back in Beijing since a family trip when I was in middle school! Thank you all for the warm welcome." She continued, "Because it's hard to navigate the boundaries of what to say, what can be said, what is okay to say, and what doesn't necessarily need to be said, I think everyone found it a bit difficult to speak easily yesterday." She added, "I just wanted to say that all four of us love everyone so, so, so much, and that I wanted to express how dearly we cherish you."

Jisoo's message drew particular attention because she was previously captured bursting into tears inside a vehicle after finishing the 10th-anniversary event. Jisoo is known as a member who rarely cries, even asking other members "Why are you crying?" when they shed tears during concerts. Because of this, some speculated whether her tears carried a different meaning.

Addressing this, Jisoo cautioned against overinterpretation, stating, "I hope people don't read too many meanings into my tears. I just want to gather those various emotions and sum them up as being touched by the fact that we've spent 10 years together." She also drew a line against comparative interpretations with other members, saying, "Just because I cried publicly for the first time, does that mean I was the most sincere or the most upset one이번에..? I don't think it's right to think that way. Just because I didn't cry during the tour doesn't mean I wasn't moved."

Jisoo also shared her feelings regarding the controversies surrounding the 10th anniversary. Comforting her fans, she wrote, "The misunderstandings and hurt feelings that arise from staying silent... It might be frustrating, but this was our 10th anniversary, a time when we should have been congratulating each other. We already made things disappointing, but more than anything, I hope no more negative talk or endless speculative rumors come out."

Finally, Jisoo concluded her message by expressing her affection for the fans, saying, "Anyway, I rambled a bit, but late as it is, I love you and happy 10th anniversary! I wanted to greet you a bit late! Working for 10 years, wow. Liking each other for 10 years, wow. We must be amazing people! Thank you."

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK debuted on August 8, 2016, and celebrated their 10th anniversary on August 8. Ahead of the milestone, complaints had arisen over whether BLACKPINK had prepared fan communication events, and following the controversy, a full-group 10th-anniversary live broadcast and a meet-and-greet event at the National Museum of Korea were successfully held. Jisoo had previously conveyed her apologies to fans through a separate lengthy letter at midnight on August 8.
