SBS's "TV Animal Farm" brought warm smiles and deep emotion to viewers by portraying the profound bond between a 90-year-old grandmother and her "canine grandson" Puju.
According to audience rating research firm Nielsen Korea on August 10, the August 9 broadcast of SBS's "TV Animal Farm" recorded a viewership rating of 4.3% for households in the Seoul metropolitan area, with a peak rating of 5.2% per minute, drawing high interest.
In the episode, the special summer vacation routine of the 90-year-old grandmother and her companion dog Puju—who became a hot topic after being featured in March—was revealed as Puju came from Jeju Island to spend summer vacation at her grandmother's mainland home.
As soon as Puju arrived, the grandmother served a nutrient-packed five-dish breakfast on a tray, and treated Puju like a princess by introducing custom-made stairs and handmade toys. Carrying Puju, who became a neighborhood star following her TV appearance, the grandmother made the rounds at the local senior center, bringing laughter as she seemed to enjoy the attention, playfully showing signs of "celebrity syndrome."
The grandmother then headed out to swim with her granddaughter Yebin and Puju. Carefully checking the water temperature while watching Puju swim, the grandmother even prepared a nutritious chicken soup for Puju's dinner. The grandmother's preferential treatment (?) leaving her actual granddaughter hungry brought burst of laughter.
After meeting Puju amid a quiet daily routine, the grandmother regained vitality in her life by communicating with her neighbors. As Puju's one-week summer vacation came to an end following a successful fan meeting, a twist occurred.
Just as the granddaughter and Puju were about to leave for Jeju Island again, the grandmother appeared pulling a carrier herself. Seeing the grandmother make a sudden decision to head to Jeju Island because she could bear to part with Puju, MC Tony An could not hide his admiration, saying, "I envy Puju for having the most reliable supporter in the world."
Meanwhile, SBS's "TV Animal Farm" airs every Sunday at 9:30 AM.
