With the arrival of Ipchu (the beginning of autumn), the intensity of the extreme heatwave has eased slightly. The tropical nights that plagued Seoul have also stopped after 17 days. I have been here at the Yeouido Han River Park since around 4:30 PM, and unlike yesterday, the heat feels much more subdued as the afternoon passes.
The air even feels quite refreshing.
With Seoul's temperature currently hovering around 28°C (82°F), it is nearly 6°C lower than the 34°C (93°F) recorded two days ago.
Just a few days ago, many people were holding portable electric fans, but today those sights have noticeably decreased, and some citizens were even wearing long-sleeved shirts.

Indeed, overnight in Seoul, the streak of tropical nights that lasted for 17 consecutive days came to a halt.
The overnight lowest temperature dropped to 24.5°C (76°F), falling below the 25°C threshold.
This is due to the weakening of the hot easterly winds that brought unprecedented heat, replaced by relatively cool air flowing in along northeasterly winds.

Can we consider this the end of the heat for this year?

It is still too early to say that.
The halt of tropical nights applies only to the central regions, while the southern regions were different.
Last night, temperatures in the southern regions exceeded 28°C (82°F), and Jeju Island is continuing its streak of tropical nights for the 33rd day.
Seoul is also forecast to experience tropical nights again tonight.
It basically returns in just a day.
Although we have passed the peak of temperatures hovering around 40°C (104°F) and all severe heatwave warnings nationwide have been lifted, heatwave advisories remain in effect for most parts of the country except the east coast.
Accordingly, sweltering weather with highs of around 35°C (95°F) is expected to continue this week.
Meanwhile, rain is falling along the east coast.
Parts of Gangwon and Gyeongbuk will see heavy downpours of over 80 mm per hour until tomorrow.
