North Korean leader Kim Jong-un posed for a commemorative photo with members of the country's National Symphony Orchestra yesterday, August 8, marking its 80th founding anniversary.
Meeting and encouraging creators, artists, and other members of the orchestra in the central hall of the Moranbong Theater in Pyongyang, Kim stated, "Having an artistic collective with such a wonderful history and tradition, as well as high creative capabilities, like the National Symphony Orchestra, is a great pride for our party, state, and people," according to the Korean Central News Agency today, August 9.
Kim urged the symphony orchestra, saying, "In developing musical art, which serves as a powerful driving force for national revival, the authoritative National Symphony Orchestra must properly perform its pioneering role." He also provided "teachings" that will serve as a guideline for the orchestra to maintain its status and reputation, the news agency reported.
