Bae Jun-ho, who plays for Stoke City in England's EFL Championship (second tier), recorded an assist in his first official match of the new season.
Bae helped seal a 2-0 victory for Stoke City against Oldham Athletic (fourth tier) in the first round of the English League Cup (EFL Cup) held at the bet365 Stadium today (August 9).
Subbed onto the pitch in the 21st minute of the second half with Stoke City leading 1-0, Bae delivered a penetrating pass through the opponent's defensive line in the 37th minute of the second half. Robert Bozenik received the ball, went on a solo dribble, and found the back of the net with a right-footed shot.
Amidst transfer rumors linking him to French club Olympique Lyonnais, Bae got off to a good start to the new season by recording an attacking point in his first official fixture.
The Championship kicks off next weekend.
In another EFL Cup first round match held at the Swansea.com Stadium, visiting Birmingham City, featuring Baek Seung-ho, defeated Swansea City, where Eom Ji-sung plays, 1-0.
Baek started the match and played until the 20th minute of the second half before being substituted, while Eom Ji-sung was brought on as a substitute in the 37th minute of the second half.
Birmingham scored the winning goal in the 44th minute of the first half when August Priske met a cross from Carlos Vicente with a right-footed first-time shot.
