The Financial Times (FT) reported that Iran's crude oil exports have been halted following the resumption of a US maritime blockade.
According to the report and other sources, operations at Kharg Island have been suspended since July 31.
Maritime intelligence firm Windward also stated that satellite imagery analysis showed all three crude oil loading berths on the island remained continuously empty, and as of the 4th local time, only 16 vessels were waiting at anchor near Kharg Island, marking the lowest level since early last month.
United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI), a US-based anti-Iran advocacy group, compiled data showing that no oil tankers carrying Iranian crude have exited the Persian Gulf since July 12.
The FT explained that while Iran has maintained crude oil exports through Kharg Island during the current conflict, it is extremely rare for such a suspension of exports to last this long.
However, the FT forecasted that this suspension of Iranian crude oil exports would not lead to a weakening of Iran's negotiation power.
