South Korean national team defender Lee Han-beom, who recently joined Belgian professional football club Club Brugge, played the full match in his debut and was selected as the player of the match.
Lee started and played the entire match during the home opener of the 2026–2027 Belgian Pro League First Division A against Kortrijk, held at Jan Breydel Stadium in Bruges, Belgium, today.
Having solidified his position as a core pillar of the national team's central defense by playing every minute of South Korea's three group-stage matches at the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, Lee recently donned the jersey of the Belgian powerhouse Club Brugge after previously playing for FC Midtjylland in Denmark.
Inserted straight into the starting lineup for the league opening match just four days after the announcement of his transfer, Lee played the full 90 minutes to contribute to the team's comfortable 3-0 victory.
According to football statistics site FotMob, Lee recorded 146 touches during the match.
He posted a passing accuracy of 95% (122/128) and excelled in duels, recording an 80% success rate in both ground duels (4/5) and aerial duels (8/10).
Lee left a strong first impression by being selected as the official Man of the Match.
His FotMob rating of 8.6 was also the highest among players from both teams.
In an interview published on the club's official website, Lee shared his thoughts, saying, "It already feels as comfortable as home here. I felt great when the fans chanted my name, and my teammates are helping me a lot." He added, "Today was good, but I want to get better. We will face stronger opponents, including in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), so I need to improve my performance."
Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko praised him, saying, "We couldn't have asked for a better debut," while captain Hans Vanaken also evaluated, "Lee's play today was truly amazing."
