"Bold Action"... Metropolitan Housing Supply Plan Expected to Be Announced as Early as Next Week

The second real estate policy inspection meeting presided over by President Lee Jae-myung was held at the Blue House yesterday (the 7th) and lasted for six hours. President Lee urged officials to "think boldly and put it into practice," and the government is expected to announce additional housing supply plans as early as next week.

President Lee Jae-myung held the second real estate policy inspection meeting at the Blue House to discuss measures for housing supply in the metropolitan area.

Immediately upon returning from his overseas trip, President Lee ordered a full-scale reassessment of housing supply measures and the swift preparation of supply plans during his first meeting. Just four days later, he presided over the second meeting to receive and review the findings and reports from each ministry.

President Lee received reports from cabinet ministers and committee chairpersons regarding directions and measures for financial support to stimulate housing supply.

He also received reports on ways to induce and support faster housing supply, after which a wide range of opinions was exchanged.

Kang Yu-jung, Senior Presidential Spokesperson, explained that a comprehensive expansion of supply and rapid implementation measures were broadly proposed and thoroughly reviewed during the meeting.

President Lee specifically urged Prime Minister Han Sung-sook and relevant cabinet ministers not to cling to conventional mindsets, but to make transformative judgments, think boldly, and take action. This is interpreted as keeping in mind the securing of the Yongsan Children's Garden site in Seoul and other locations.

President Lee reportedly emphasized during the meeting on the 3rd that the government should accelerate site acquisition by even introducing a "first-purification, later-negotiation" approach, in which our government performs land purification work first and then negotiates cost-sharing with the U.S. military.

The government will announce additional housing supply plans for the metropolitan area as early as next week, drawing attention to whether it will unveil a volume larger than the previously forecasted 50,000 units.
