Director Wong Kar-wai's masterpiece "Days of Being Wild" has confirmed a 4K remastered theatrical re-release to mark the 70th birth anniversary of the late Leslie Cheung.
"Days of Being Wild 4K Remastered" tells the story of "Abu," a wind-like young man caught in the endless wandering and love of youth. Upon its original release, "Days of Being Wild 4K Remastered" won five awards at the 10th Hong Kong Film Awards—Hong Kong's most prestigious film ceremony—including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, and Best Art Direction, proving both its artistic merit and commercial appeal.
Above all, "Days of Being Wild 4K Remastered" marks the starting point of Director Wong Kar-wai's mise-en-scène and cinematic universe, while also being a work where Leslie Cheung's signature lonely and precarious charm reaches its absolute peak.
Released alongside the re-release news, the newly unveiled teaser poster heightens anticipation by capturing the desolate image of "Abu," a youth wandering without a place to belong. The tagline, "An unstoppable youth, a name to be remembered forever," evokes memories of the Leslie Cheung we loved back then, stirring up deep, wistful emotions once again.
In particular, the enhanced image quality achieved through 4K remastering vividly brings out Director Wong Kar-wai's sensuous color palette and delicate mise-en-scène, promising a special cinematic experience for long-time fans as well as audiences encountering Wong Kar-wai's universe for the first time.
"Days of Being Wild 4K Remastered" will hit theaters nationwide on September 12.
