Comedian and broadcaster Cho Se-ho, who halted his broadcast activities following allegations of ties to organized crime, has resumed his personal social media activity after eight months and announced his appearance on the Netflix variety show "Screwballs" Season 6.
On the 7th, Cho Se-ho posted on his Instagram, saying, "It has been a long time since I greeted you on Instagram! I have returned with 'Screwballs' Season 6," along with several behind-the-scenes stills from the new season. The released photos show him in various looks, ranging from a disguise as Queen rock band's Freddie Mercury to cross-dressing with a bob wig. He added, "We prepared this new season to be fun, so please show lots of interest," and also shared the broadcast time for the first episode of the new season.
This marks Cho Se-ho's first post on social media in about eight months since he uploaded a letter of apology last December.
Previously, Cho Se-ho became embroiled in suspicions of ties to organized crime last December after photos containing a certain individual and related allegations were raised.
He explained, "As I have traveled to various regional events for a long time, I met various people whom I did not know before. However, as many people are concerned, the suspicions raised due to those ties are entirely untrue." His agency also completely denied the suspicions, stating, "They are simply acquaintance relationships, and there has been no exchange of money or valuables." However, as the controversy did not subside, Cho Se-ho posted a letter of apology and voluntarily stepped down from KBS2's "2 Days & 1 Night" and tvN's "You Quiz on the Block", halting his activities.
Afterward, he made an earlier appearance on broadcasts through his appearance on Netflix's "Screwballs 4." At the time, when members Joo Woo-jae, Kim Sook, and Hong Jin-kyung asked about his current situation, Cho Se-ho stated, "I am sorry for causing concern. I was careless in my relationships." He repeatedly explained, "I have never received money or valuables, and I am not involved in any financial relationships or business." He also stated, "I do not think of this as a return. I am still reflecting and will be more careful in the future." At the time, Joo Woo-jae also added, "Appearing on 'Screwballs' is not a return. It was filmed according to the originally scheduled itinerary."
Attention is focused on whether this social media post will serve as an opportunity for Cho Se-ho to increase his communication with the public and broaden the scope of his broadcast activities.
