An 80-year-old man, identified only as A, was found dead in a rice paddy in Eumam-myeon, Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, at 7:28 a.m. today.
According to the fire authorities, who responded to a nearby resident's report stating that a person had collapsed, Mr. A was already dead at the scene.
Mr. A had left his home riding a four-wheeled motorcycle at 11:00 a.m. the previous day and failed to return. His family filed a missing person report with the police at 8:50 p.m. the same day, and search operations were underway.
A four-wheeled motorcycle, believed to be the one he was riding, was found overturned next to where Mr. A had collapsed.
A police official stated, "We are investigating the exact cause of death, including whether it was a simple traffic accident or a fatality caused by a heat-related illness."
